What I Want for Christmas

What I want for Christmas is 10% of Carbondale (about 600) on the moonlight cruise in June/ July. Happy people, small people, old people, normal people and wretched people. All of them cruising (more than standing around) in fine merriment and making animal noises.

With the Stompas, like sheep dogs, keeping them together and riding and feeling safe and happy.

Lights and sounds galore. The sound bike needs radio, so we can play (take over) KDNK -- or we could share a playlist and start it in simultaneity. So I want one of these, and you should too. (notice aux input and Mic. Jack)

well slowboken has reached easterly lands thatz fer sure..11degreez the other night, not in the toasty confines of my sleepin' bag though.. passed through kentucky, where i was hosted by bradz pal brad y lisa, and then a fellow named eddie.. and onto ohio, where i been cold kickin it with atilla and mary in athens and and and
and so those out there on the roads who ask me what i'm upto, what my mission is, whether or not i'm 'like forest gump' its occured that among other things, i'm very very lucky for the opportunity and support to undertake a tour of this duration...
but the simplest answer is that i'm just gettin' a head start on the cold dark simple times that ought to lie ahead, that will be vehemently fought by the masses unwilling to give up there creature comforts that allow them to exist in a climate controlled exertion free vacuous place where comfort is the degree to which you need not do much..
so i'm just gettin' a head start is all.. and handily vacationing at the same time..
of course along the way are plenty of friendly folks i've encountered, who've put me up and so forth, well aware of the implications of this society's consumptive ways and soforth, doing their part to eat local consume less think forward and be good, but it would appear they're not in the majority, as opposed to cross country cool weather bikers who outnumber crosscountry alpaca riders by a significant margin - today i wuz lucky enough to encounter some fine fellows fighting the good fight at the athens ohio bike co-op and they helped me overcome a tired tyre and a lack of homebrew while they worked on the yellowbike taxi bike fleet, destined to be disrespected and generally trashed by the pro partying peoplez of ohio university who the bikes will surely benefit,,, fight the good fight.. in any event there are some lovely websites that will surely make you happy and i will go enjoy dinner so uhh peas out

Honk Honk

Hay there kidz, Slappy from SLowBOken here, signing in from a landline outside of Jasper Indiana.. Yeehaa, well the SLowBoken tour continues to astound and amaze, not least of, moi; and I've yet to grow tired of this enterprise, despite slogging through a day of record rain yesterday,, a day after some a-hole Albion Illinois cop woke me up at 10:30 pm to kick me out of the town park, (mustn't forget to send him a note).. andand-and, here i sit, at a friend of a friends' house digesting some vitels and tip type tapping away. A couple hours before the 'bonedale bumz head out full-moon a cruisin'. Not me, that's past my bedtime, I'll be faast asleep. In any event, the cold is supposedly approaching, right as i get into the swing of warmshowers.org! A sweet website out of Canada that offers 'hospitality for touring cyclists' and an interactive map to link the 6000 plus members. get on, scroll around and then contact the people in the way, people who are free to offer whatever they like, from the aforementioned warm shower to an all organic dinner/breakfast as Blue and Craig were kind enough to provide me with in St. Louis. So that's pretty sweet and I recommend anyone who'd put up a fellow stompR ought to sign up just cuz' In any event this country is pretty big, hopefully on the right track now, and accessible to anyone who feels like taking it in. Someone asked when I last saw someone i knew, (BRN in steamboat), and my mom wondered if I'm lonely yet,(nope). Truth be told, without the magic phone and the ability to chat and email I probably would be more susceptible to that sort of thing, but as it is, I continue to enjoy SLowBoken and the opportunity for longD solo action. It's more than halfway over though, that's for sure, and thanks to another BRN pal, I've got a party in Louisville on Saturday night, so onwards an upwards. .hope all is well for the rest of the STOmpErZ round the world. which brings me to the next bright idea, just keep on riding right around the world.. right?!?. peas slappy

Rallee O Ded

Well-o-well we had a very nice time with the incroyablement tight Durango crew.
Thanks to Doom, Chad, Bailey, BenZ and the vast array of stompaz who looked convincingly creepy, and who were for all purposes dead and dying... to get on and stay on top of the bikes, the music, the ball.
Ya & Rx2 were instrumental and instructional, and together we made for the best DFL Polo POny Team, melting in the sun...

BenZ's roommate is to be congratulated for making it to Vegas? and for letting a certain stompa crash in his room. I explained that I had brought a bag of soot that I would be using as a pillow, so he needn't worry about his sheets getting blackened. He wasn't convinced. His last words before hitting the road at 1:30 AM were,
"Really... wash your face."

Uh, D9. Uh-huh.

wind

So far, despite the fear mongering weather heads, SlowBoken has been decidedly delightful, with nary a flake of the snow I'm told is arriving everyday. So last night in Kansas was perhaps appropriatley, the most raucuous weather yet. While I crossed the time zone watching lightning off to the south east I failed to notice how much lighning there happened to be to the north west. Upon setting up a fairly minimal camp next to some hay bales I called Ivin and remarked on the 360 degree lightning show and stars above. Of course that didn't last long and the wind that proceeded to buffet my wee bivy sack, along with the rain and hail, (but no snow!) was unlike any I can recall, and not just in SlowBoken. In any event it's almost a tail wind and onwards I proceed, with Kansas so far as the most wicked weather yet.

Los Ponys de Chichiquilote

In the way back car culture of Mexico, there is hope. Get yer vert on with a tall bike of the tandemnest sort, replete with skateboard deck and integral ladderwayz. Looks like you could get 4 Stompaz on and inside the frame of this rolling pyramid easily... or maybe 10 zombies.
..and yer defintely gonna be bowlegged after ridin this bici!

ShipShape'n'Shorn

Well I woke up with the appropriate sun angle, that's to say low and early and being down towards pueblo and all that low elevation goodness, I was actually quite toasty this mornin'. So I gave myself a haircut, dispensing with quite a bit of hair from the top and general cycling cap/headphone/helmet area, (viz. Not the back, crucial mullet sun protector underway) of course the picture does little justice to my mad skillz and the volume of hair floating 'round camp, hopefully my mom doesn't make me go get it cleaned up before my next meeting! alas it appears like 66.6 degrees f with sun, will be the forecast for the foreseeable future in slowboken peas slappy
