Sooo since the sun came out briefly and some hamme-a-lopes have neva' stopped ridin' bikes.. the StOMpArillaZ summer bike ideas are startin' to roll in.. which is nice.. and here are some ideas to start floatin' around in yer friendly lil' head... Yaya is quite intent on doing one particular big ol' tour...

>> 'bonedale to durangolope onroad and off... This idea had been floated last year for 4th of july, not sure when it'll happen butbut.. Ideally the short bus will be in action as the support vehicle.. carrying extra tires for those who wanna ride the same bike on road and off, niner heads probably,, and both mountain and road bikes for others.. and we'll ride road for some sections and off road for others ending up on the colorado trail down in to d-town.. there will ideally be a campout high up in the san juans partying with the durango crew.. so who's in and who has any date ideas? Off road from bonedale to Paonia, stay at Pa's place.. On road from there to Ouray, and off road from their to D-town...

The Rabbit ears pass, accessed from Steamboat, descend s 60 some odd miles at a ridiculously gradual and beautiful grade down to the venue.. so coincidng with a delightful music show, we'll pre camp party on top of teh pass and then cruise on tall bikes, cruisers, xtra cycles, longboards, and most certianly rollerblades all the way down the hill to the vennue for the show.. date to be decided by the band.. whooooooooo

Welll in this late hour I find my self saddened by the news of Sheldon Browns' passing sunday evening. Any of us who have found ourselves trying to figure out a bike question with this here inter-net have inevitably been drawn into Sheldon's massive database of delightful and endlessly informative information. I got both my first SS mtb wheel, which is still running on the street stomper, and my first fixxee wheel, from him at Harris cyclery in W. Newton Ma.
Suffering for the last couple years from MS he suffered a heart attack on 2.3.08 R.I.P http://sheldonbrown.blogspot.com/ I just hope that some day I'll be able to follow his directions for turning a Sturmey archer 3 spd internal hub into a fixxee 3spd.

Huuuu OK operation thunder fuck. that coulda been a good name for when you guys were backin' me up last year in the race to host... surely though the great and glorious DURangO would have had no problem's what so ever had that been the destination for sswc08.. granted I myself have dabbled in pacifism, but just cuz every one who's been on a bike long enough to get involved with 1x1 wants to go to that one traveling party doesn't really seem to make the task of hosting look any easier.. Of course DUrangO would happliy host the 800 racers and there entourage but who amongst the thunderfuckers really has complete idea of how to go about that? Not me that's for damn sure, you can bet that I'm glad to not be the specific point of bitter bitching for this years event, (which is not say I haven't fielded some calls) but given that noone from durango was there last year.. had I won, (as was alledged) I surely would have been saying ohshitohshitohshitTHUNDerFuCK.. soooo anyway I'm in, yer all pretty cute i guess, don't even know if I'm gonna be able to go.. yah you like that? ggood... hey and while you're THUnDEr FuCking maybe you could help the 08 sswc crew in napa to run this years event more bettereer and maybe get some sort of idea of how YOu would/will host it in time, and then of course you'll be able to makkkkeee eeevrryone happy ... peas out i'm gonna go get a root canal... slappy

Hello Everyone:
Registration for the Single Speed World Championships 2008 in Napa,
CA, USA, will open on January 1, 2008, at 12:00 a.m. pacific standard
time (AKA: California time). We will post an on-line form for people
to fill out and email to us soon. Again, registration does not open
until January 1, 2008 at 12:00 a.m. Any emailed registration forms
prior to that date and time will be deleted. We will leave
registration open until it fills up, maximum riders will be 350.
Everyone will be emailed letting them know if they are in or out. If
you are in, there will be instructions on payment via PayPal.
Registration is $35 U.S. dollars. If you don't make it in, we still
encourage you to come out and play that weekend anyway. There will be
lots of rides going on all over the Bay Area. More details about the
race weekend will be posted soon. Good Luck! Please forward to
friends that might be interested and please post on blogs and
websites, if applicable. We really want to inform as many as possible
so that everyone has a fighting chance to get into the race. Thanks.
